Preparing Students for Futures, Not Just Examinations
AEP Framework
The AEP Framework (Awareness, Exploration and Preparation) is a whole-school model designed to connect teaching and learning, personal development and future readiness.
Grounded in research from teaching and learning, careers education and situated learning theory, the framework helps students understand the relevance of their learning, apply knowledge in authentic contexts and develop informed aspirations for the future.
Rather than viewing careers education as a standalone programme, the AEP Framework positions future pathways as an integral part of the educational journey. Through a structured progression of Awareness, Exploration and Preparation, students develop the knowledge, experiences and confidence needed to translate achievement into opportunity.
At its core, the framework is built upon a simple principle:
Learn → Apply → Aspire
The aim is simple: every student should leave school with both ambition and a plan to achieve it.
